Itinerary
Day 1
SA-WA-DEE THAILAND!
Welcome to Bangkok, the turbo-charged capital and epicenter of modern Thailand. From the moment you arrive, the energy of the city, its sights, sounds, and flavors sets the tone for your trip. Arrive anytime (we can help recommend flights), and we’ll be at the Suvarnabhumi International Airport ready to pick you up. Consider a quick visit at one of Bangkok’s local sights, or a snack in the neon-drenched Chinatown neighborhood before meeting the rest of the group for dinner and a breakdown of what’s to come.
Day 2
BANGKOK TEMPLES & TUK-TUKS
Today, we dive into Bangkok’s cultural heart, starting at Lak Mueang City Pillar before exploring the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew, home to the revered Emerald Buddha. We’ll then tuk-tuk to Wat Pho, where Thailand’s largest reclining Buddha stretches 45 metres, before continuing to Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn. After lunch, cruise Bangkok’s ancient canals by longtail boat, passing wooden homes and riverside temples before stopping at the centuries-old Artist’s House. Then, as night falls, it’s time for a tuk-tuk food tour packed with Bangkok favorites.
Day 3
CHIANG MAI + THAI COOKING
We fly north to Chiang Mai, nestled in the cool Northern mountains. First stop: lunch, followed by the iconic Doi Suthep Temple. Climb the Naga serpent staircase (time permitting) for panoramic views, admire gleaming golden pagodas, and soak up the chants of monks and pilgrims. In the afternoon, we head to the village of Bandoo in Hangdong to visit the Raunkaew-Yanon family home, a 150-year-old Lanna house. Handpick fresh ingredients from their orchard, cook up Northern Thai dishes, and swap stories with the family. By the end, you’ll feel less like a guest and more like part of the clan, maybe even claiming bragging rights for the best local dish in Chiang Mai.
Day 4
HILL TRIBES + BAMBOO RAFTING
After breakfast, we leave Chiang Mai behind and head east into the lush mountains around Chiang Dao, home to Alta, Lisu, Lahu, Palong, and Karen hill tribes. Expect valleys burst with corn, cassava, and tropical fruits like papaya and longan. After a calm bamboo raft ride down a gentle stream, we step ashore in Dara-ang village, Mae Chon, where we’ll enjoy a traditional lunch. In the afternoon, we hike 5km / 3.1 miles through a protected community forest to the next Dara-ang village, Pang Daeng Nai. Along the trail, discover native flora, spot forest wildlife, and gain an authentic insight into rural Northern Thailand.
Day 5
FREE DAY
This day is yours to shape: Chiang Mai has plenty to keep you busy. Hike to Wat Pha Lat for city views, explore the markets, or simply wander the streets snacking on spicy lemongrass sausages. For something more active, head into the countryside to climb the famous “sticky” Bua Tong Waterfall, cycle through orchards and rice fields, and take a scenic longtail boat ride before kayaking on Mae Ngat Dam. Or, dive into Chiang Mai’s legendary street food scene with a local guide, sampling Northern Thai favorites at lively neighborhood markets.
Day 6
ELEPHANT SANCTUARY VISIT
We leave Chiang Mai behind and fly south towards the wild beauty of Khao Sok National Park. It’s a 2-hour flight followed by a 2-hour drive, but the journey is worth it as we arrive among towering limestone cliffs and thick jungle. This afternoon, meet local mahouts and spend time with Thailand’s most iconic residents, the elephants. Learn about their intelligence, diet, and daily rhythms before helping to feed them and watching them splash in the river. Then settle into our jungle surroundings and enjoy a relaxed evening in the heart of Khao Sok.
Day 7
OVERNIGHT STAY AT FLOATING BUNGALOWS
This morning we head deeper into Khao Sok National Park, boarding a longtail boat across Cheow Lan Lake. Limestone cliffs, emerald waters, and secret inlets set the stage as we arrive at our private raft house. Your home tonight? A floating Thai-style bungalow. Swim straight off the deck, kayak through hidden corners, or just take in the calm. After a southern-style Thai lunch, we set off on a jungle trek, learning the forest’s secrets: edible plants, bamboo water, and spotting wildlife overhead. Then, as the sun sets, cruise the lake by boat, when the jungle comes alive and animals emerge, before dinner and a night on the water.
Day 8
SUNRISE SAFARI + KOH LANTA
Rise before dawn with a warm coffee (or tea) in hand, then glide across the misty waters of Khao Sok National Park on a sunrise boat safari. Keep your eyes peeled for macaques, gibbons, hornbills, and, if luck’s on your side, even a wild elephant along the shore. Back at the raft house, a hearty Thai breakfast awaits before time for a last swim or kayak. Mid-morning, we embark on a 2.5-hour boat journey back across the lake pausing at the striking “Guilin of Thailand” for photos followed by a 3-hour bus ride to Koh Lanta. Enjoy a packed lunch on the bus during the drive, arriving at our beachfront hotel for downtime and a relaxed local dinner.
Day 9
TROPICAL ISLAND HOPPING
Time to swap jungle trails for turquoise seas as we explore Thailand’s Trang Islands by private long-tail boat. First up is Koh Mook, where we swim through the Emerald Cave and pop out onto a secret beach that feels straight out of a movie. Then it’s on to Koh Kradan, all white sand and crystal water: basically, paradise with extra sunshine. Lunch is served on Koh Ngai, with a meal that’s as relaxed as the scenery. We finish at Koh Cheuak, where schools of fish dart around the reefs like rush-hour traffic (but prettier). By day’s end, we’re salty, happy, and back on Koh Lanta.
Day 10
DO YOUR THING
Idle or active, the day is yours. Lounge on the sand at our hotel, wander the winding streets of the Historic Old Town, or hop over to Koh Phi Phi to see the famous Maya Bay. Nature calling? Head into Koh Lanta National Park for jungle hikes and cheeky monkey spotting. Or keep it local and get your heart racing with a Muay Thai class led by pro fighters: learn techniques, hit the pads, spar, and sweat it out while soaking up the culture of this legendary martial art. Your day, your rules, rounded up with a tasty farewell dinner.
Day 11
GOODBYE LAND OF SMILES
It’s time to wrap up the trip and say goodbye to Thailand and your new travel friends. Over the past 11 days, you’ve experienced the country from top to bottom, exploring the dynamic streets of Bangkok, the forests and temples of Chiang Mai, the jungles and wildlife of Khao Sok National Park, and the easy-going island life of Koh Lanta. It’s been a well-rounded journey that shows the best of Thai culture and landscapes, whether it’s your first time here or not. With plenty of memories (and photos!) to take home, we’ll transfer you to Krabi International Airport for your onward flight.

SPECIAL NOTES ABOUT THIS TRIP!
Khao Sok is a remote jungle destination, so the accommodation here is more basic than the hotels elsewhere on the trip. Expect a simpler, more rustic stay that reflects the remote setting, you’re deep in the rainforest, after all! It’s a different kind of experience, but one that puts you right in the heart of Khao Sok’s incredible natural surroundings.

Am I a good fit for an OWR trip?
We know it’s important to you to choose the right tour company for you.

Are international flights included?
No.
International flights are not included in the price of our tours. This is something you would book yourself separately.
Which airports should I fly into?
Our trip starts in Bangkok, Suvarnabhumi International Airport is closest (BKK) and ends in Koh Lanta, whereby the nearest airport is Krabi International Airport (KBV). You should organise your flights accordingly.
Ideally you should arrive at the hotel by 6pm on the first day. This is when we have our welcome meeting and afterwards go for dinner (although if you arrive later it’s fine to catch up).
You can leave at any time on the last day. There are no activities scheduled for that day.

Are airport transfers included?
Yes, they are included at both the start and end of every trip.
Notes
- We only do transfers between airports and our selected hotels. No other locations.
- For those tagging on extra days, we will endeavour to include transfers up to 2 days outside of official tour dates.
Can I book a private room?
Yes.
Our standard prices are based on sharing a twin hotel room with one other person of the same gender.
However, if you prefer a private then you can select this option for £800 / $1050 extra.
Just let us know at the time of booking.
(Note – we have limited availability of private rooms, these will be allocated on a first come, first served basis).
Can I book pre and/or post accommodation?
Yes, we can book you in for extra days at either our arrival hotel or departure hotel.
This is up to a maximum of 2 days on either side. If for longer, we suggest you book directly with the hotel.
As you book your trip spot through our website, during the checkout process you will be given the option to “add-on” the pre or post accommodation. You can also do this at a later point through our guest portal (you will have access to this after booking).
I’m traveling solo, will I be the only one?
No.
Our trips are specifically designed for solo travelers so you will fit in perfectly.
Some people may bring a friend but the majority will always be traveling solo.
How do I book?
On this page you will see a “Book Now” button next to each trip departure date. Simply click this to start the checkout process and reserve your spot.
You will need to pay a £200 / $250 deposit upfront and then the remaining balance must be paid by 70 days before the trip.
If your booking is within 70 days, then you must pay the full balance at that point.
What happens after I book? (next steps)
This is what you should expect in the lead up to your trip.
- Book trip (secure your spot with a deposit)
- Book international flights (these can be booked at any point after we’ve confirmed your spot – don’t leave too late as price will go up closer to trip)
- Purchase travel insurance (this will cover for issues leading up to trip as well as during)
> 70 Days Before Trip (cancellation penalties kick-in beyond this point)
- Full balance must be paid
- OWR sends survey: requests flight information, dietary requirements, health conditions, emergency contacts etc…(must be returned within 7 days)
> 10 Days Before Trip
- OWR sends day-by-day schedule, optional activity recommendations & some final info to prepare you for trip
> 3 Days Before Trip
- WhatsApp group created with all trip attendees + Tour Leader
> Trip Start Date
- Welcome meeting is typically scheduled for 6pm on first day. This is where you will meet your Tour Leader and other guests (note – we may change this time depending on overall group arrival times. If it changes we will notify you).
Is the deposit refundable?
No, the deposit is non-refundable.
However, if you can no longer make the trip you can transfer that deposit onto any other future trip.
Do you have payment plans?
Yes.
We can either split your balance into even monthly payments, or we can set it up so you can pay any smaller amounts as and when you like.
You can go ahead and book your spot through our website as normal and then afterwards email us at [email protected] to request we set up your payment plan.
Visas, vaccinations & packing lists?
Two months before your trip you will receive a comprehensive pre-trip pack which tells you everything you need to get prepared for the trip (including info on visas, vaccinations & packing lists).
In general, most of our guests don’t need visas to come to Thailand when visiting for less than 30 days.
Do you cater for special dietary requirements?
Yes.
We cater for vegetarian, vegan, gluten free and other dietary requirements. We will always make sure there are options available to you in the restaurants we visit.
Please be aware though that there will not likely be the same range of options as you have available in your home country.
Will I get to meet other members of the group before the trip?
Yes.
3 days before the trip we will create a WhatsApp group with all the people joining the trip. This is a great opportunity to connect ahead of the trip.
Are the hotels listed on the website the actual hotels you use?
Generally yes, it will be these hotels.
From time to time we may need to change a specific hotel if for example it’s not available on those given dates. But in such situations, we will always replace with another hotel at the same quality and notify you in advance.
What’s the cancellation policy?
The £200/$250 deposit is non-refundable. However, if you need to cancel at any point, you can put this towards any future trip you book with us (in any location).
The rest of the balance is refundable up until 70 days before the trip. From that point we have to start committing funds to local suppliers and so:-
> 30-70 days before trip – 50% refund
> 0–30 days before trip – 0% refund
But, we also recommend that you take out travel insurance to cover you for any unexpected last-minute cancellation.
