Wow! What an experience!
Peru had been on my bucket list a while and the itinerary for this trip ticked every box… Other Way Round lived up to every expectation and more!

The tour was so well designed, the activities and locations flowed brilliantly and we really did pack everything in. We had so much fun! I want to go back and do it all again. From exploring Lima, spotting wildlife in the Amazon, feeling in awe and fascination in the sacred valley, hiking the inca trail, taking in Machu Picchu, and winding down in Cusco, every day was different. And the food was incredible!

The hosts were equally fantastic, very much part of the group rather than just the organisers, yet handled issues with professionalism, going above and beyond to ensure we all had a great experience. JC, our Peruvian host, was very knowledgeable and passionate about his country and culture and really brought the spirit of Peru alive during the trip.

I’d never been on a group tour before and was a little apprehensive about what to expect and being with strangers, but I needn’t have worried. Everything was organised so well, it made a nice change to not have to think about planning everything, and it certainly didn’t feel restrictive or touristy. The group gelled so well and within a couple days it felt like we’d known each other for years.

Peru is an amazing country to visit, I wish I’d stayed longer! I would absolutely recommend travelling with Other Way Round, and can’t wait to travel with them again. I may just end up working my way through all their trips!

This is my second trip with Other Way Round Travel. My first experience was the epic Colombia experience. I was worried this Mexico tour, especially given this was the first time the company had run it in Mexico, wouldn’t live up to my unrealistic expectations based on that pre Covid memory of Colombia. I was wrong, very wrong! Tlilal our local Mexican guide was amazing. She was so professional, welcoming and passionate about showing us her country it was energising in itself. The country and the people are even better. We were lucky enough to be here for Day of the Dead and the whole country was having the most amazing party! People have certain perceptions of Mexico, I know I did, the reality is a vibrant amazing cultural experience with more than a few laughs, tacos and Mezcal’s involved. I’m not going to list highlights as the whole tour was amazing with each slot in the itinerary contributing in its own way. For my highlights read the itinerary. Those of us on this trip who had been to Colombia (most of us) were all worried about the same expectation gap I was but I think we all agreed that this experience was as epic as Colombia just very different. Both amazing countries with rich cultures, amazing scenery and full of welcoming people. That’s the reason I’ve booked the Brazil trip for next year. I’m convinced it will make it a hat-trick of amazing experiences from Steve and the Other Way Round team.

Steve has created an amazing company. I am so thankful i went on the peru trip with other way round travel. It totally exceeded my expectations. Inca one day trail was epic but definitely all i needed ( the big one is usually 4 full days), Manchu Picchu was iconic to say the least, And the Amazon was a must for me. I really feel like we covered all the things i wanted to do and see. It’s the heart that is put into this trip that really makes you feel like you’re submerged into its culture fully and the travel guide JC made that all possible. From the simple things like getting you to and from the airport. To making sure everyone with dietary restrictions were accompanied correctly. They really cover all the things ! I also highly recommend going on the smaller rainbow style mountains on the free day. They will know what you mean ! 100% recommending this to all my friends! It pushes you outside your comfort zone in the best ways & it’s very rewarding. One of the best parts for me was you’ll have 15 new friends by the end of it. Oh and the foods so yummy!

Took a trip to Colombia with OWR in august of 2022 and I had such an amazing time. The itinerary was packed with all kinds of activities to experience the culture, people, and cuisine of the country. Steve curated the perfect time in every location and I loved getting to know the other travelers. Diana (our tour guide) was spectacular. She made each experience full of knowledge and I don’t even know how she made everything run so smoothly. She’s a gem. Paula (our photographer) was equally wonderful, so fun, and it was great to learn from another local on the trip. I would highly recommend OWR and I’m even ready to book my next trip with the company. If you come for Colombia definitely do the 2 week tour to get a feel for what the country has to offer. You won’t regret it.

From a fabulous food tour in Mexico City to a brilliant bike ride in Tulum, this tour has it all. Steve has put together a fantastic itinerary that will give anyone new to Mexico a flavour of this amazing country. Every step of the way you’ll feel taken care of by Steve and the local guides who really bring Mexico to life. The tour has a great balance of group activities, such as a walking tour of Oaxaca and Mezcal farm visit, and plenty of free time to either chill or take up some of the optional activities. This tour is simply brilliantly brilliant.

An amazing experience with amazing people. I would recommend OWR to anyone looking to travel with a group!

I’m from Canada and did the Peru trip in September. It was my first time solo travelling and I considered multiple travel groups but kept going back to Other Way Round. What attracted me to them was the age range and smaller group size but what sold me was the itinerary. You can tell Steve puts a lot of effort into planning each travel experience and it shows; From accommodations to the detailed itinerary, packing list suggestions, everything was taken care of and I didn’t have to worry about anything, even dietary restrictions. We became very close as a group and I was very sad when the trip came to an end. I highly recommend Other Way Round travel and would gladly book another trip with them!

Colombia has stolen my heart!! ❤️❤️ Everything about my trip to Colombia with Other way round travel was absolutely amazing! I booked on very late and Steve was very accommodating and helped me to get everything sorted. Communication was fantastic and Steve was able to answer any questions I had. On the trip everything was extremely well planned out and everyday a different experience to the previous day. From Comuna 13 to the private boat cruise, to the Parque Tayrona hike with the most amazing beach at the end, each excursion offered something unique and special. Dancing was a real highlight of the trip for me! The salsa lesson was one thing but Champeta was on another level, I wanted to do more! Chiva Rumbera was a night I’ll never forget. ‘lo que pasa en cartagena se queda en Cartagena.’ Our own party bus, with a pole, alcohol, DJ Marlon great tunes plus a few cool stops along the way. I can’t remember the last time I had such a good night! What made the trip even better was the company. Having never travelled anywhere alone I was very apprehensive but from the moment I met Steve I knew I was in good hands. The team alone Steve, Paula and Diana were incredible and felt like part of the group. From Diana ensuring we had our ‘Colombian kit’ everyday and being so knowledgeable about everything, to Steve’s non stop sarcasm and banter and Paula’s awesome energy and dance moves they really did make the trip. I honestly didn’t expect to meet so many amazing and like minded people and I’ve left with so many lifelong friends! I could not have asked for a better way to finish off my summer holiday before going back to work and I cannot wait for the next trip away with Other way round!

If you are uncomfortable traveling alone, but hate the standard tour group vibe then Other Way Round is the company for you.

I was lucky enough to be part of the amazing September 2022 Peru group and know that I have made lifelong friends during this trip.

Not only does Steve put an extensive effort into making the trip seamless and safe, but he also hires the best local guides to make the experience perfect. JC, our Peruvian guide was absolutely amazing. He was a fantastic source of information and truly went above and beyond to help the group. His passion for Peru immersed me fully into the culture! Just make sure to ask him about the Twelve Angled Stone in Cusco. Completing this amazing team was Paula, photographer extraordinaire! She makes you feel like you only have good sides.

On this trip I hiked the Inca Trail, explored the biodiversity of Lake Sandoval in the Amazon, and saw the stunning colours of Palccoyo rainbow mountain at 5,000 metres. I stepped very far outside of my comfort zone and felt supported every second of the way.

From airport transfers to dietary requirements to the thousands of stairs we walked over 12 days, Steve and Other Way Round was making the process smooth for every step. My only regret is not taking enough photos, but thankfully we had Paula to help with that!

I will not hesitate to recommend Other Way Round to the people in my life and cannot wait until I have another opportunity to join a tour (Mexico, November 2023 perhaps?)

Thanks again to Steve, JC, Paula, Hector, Ever, and the other amazing guides who made this the trip of a lifetime.

Trip of a lifetime. Other Way Round Travel is everything I wanted in a tour operator. They’re a small outfit so you get all the personal touches and contact that the big operators can’t provide and with real expert knowledge of the areas they visit.
With very limited Spanish I didn’t particularly fancy rocking up in South America with a backpack on my own so this was a perfect solution providing convenience and safety in numbers. The age range of OWRT also meant that I was travelling with like minded people and had so much fun meeting new folk.
Peru is a stunning country and our tour guide Juan Carlos went above and beyond to help us all on the trip. He raises the bar for every other tour guide. The schedule is quite intense but makes for an active trip packing in so many amazing experiences.
I thought it was very expensive initially but when I realised how much it would cost to do all this individually it’s a steal. Would highly recommend!

Colombia ‘why on earth would you go there?’ That was the comment I got from so many people after I booked my trip with other way around travel and initially I felt the same. My tour with other way round was absolutely incredible, the trip was authentic, fast paced and full of pinch me I’m alive moments which completely changed my mind on what I thought Colombia was. Steve, Diana, and Paula attended to our every need and made us feel welcome from the start to the end of the trip. There are so many highlights I could write an essay and if I had to pick a top 3 I would say 1) Jardin 2) Tayrona National Park 3) Champeta Dancing. If you are considering this trip I would say go for it, you will not regret it and you will come back in love with Colombia.

I had an absolutely brilliant time on this tour! I joined the tour for the second week (cartegena to Bogota). we did so many things, everyday was great! so hard to pick highlights but the things that stick out the most are the speed boat around different islands in cartegena, rum tasting followed by a party bus (so much fun!), the trek through Tayrona national park to reach a gorgeous beach (followed by a horse ride back) and the bike tour in Bogota (we had the most hilarious tour guide!). The group on the tour were really great and we had a lot of fun together ….non-stop laughs! Most of all, Steve and Julian were the best your tour guides – super organised, helpful and lots of fun!! Thanks again for a fantastic trip!!

This was my first time travelling with group of people and I can not say enough good things about this fantastic company Other Way Round. It was very well organised, plenty of things to do and see and the Steve, Marcela, Julian and Paula are really just the most kind, fun people to travel with. They really took very good care of us, becoming part of us. It felt like travelling with group of your friends. I loved the fact, I did not have to take care of anything and I was taken care of even when I got a bit sick at the end. We visited the best places of the country and they let us experience the authentic Colombia, showing us the Colombian way of everything, which I would not experience if I would travel there alone. I highly recommend to try this experience with them. Great memories, awesome Colombian NYE, food, trips, people, itinerary…. from me they have 5 stars!

Just back from an absolutely awesome trip with Other Way Round. I cannot recommend Steve, Marcela and Julian enough as tour hosts/guides – knowledgeable, fun and friendly – they feel more like new found friends on the tour than tour guides. They’ve thought of everything to make the trip memorable for all the right reasons, and I was lucky enough to be joined by a like-minded group for the 2 week trip. I would also highly recommend Colombia for an unforgettable holiday – friendly, colourful, hospitable and I never once felt unsafe. If you’re considering joining a group tour to Colombia, my only advice would be to book with OWR and have an adventure of a lifetime.

I had such an amazing time with Steve, Julian and Paula on my trip to Columbia with them. I was on the Cartagena, Parque Tayrona and Bogota one week trip. I had such a nightmare getting there with my flights being cancelled and arriving at a totally different time than expected and they were constantly in communication with me and made sure I made it to the hotel safely even though I was going to be arriving in the middle of the night due to flight delays. They were waiting there awake for me and made me feel welcome right from the start. Every aspect of the trip was so well planned it felt so seamless! We barely ever even waited or experienced any hiccups with any of the outings and activities. I feel like we hit so many amazing aspects of Columbia- from beautiful beaches, run tasting, to great food/restaurants, enjoying the nightlife and even a really fun dance class in the old town… oh and how can I forget the party bus and night market! Columbia is such a beautiful place and they made it all the more enjoyable. Steve, Julian and Paula all were there to make sure everyone had every comfort they needed and were so kind and patient with everyone. It’s often difficult to manage a large group but they were really great at it. Paula took such beautiful photos and documented the whole entire trip for us so we could just sit back and relax. I could not have asked for more and it was so worth it. Not to mention the fact that I felt so safe and looked after the whole trip even though I was traveling solo! Never felt like that at all! A huge thank you to them for putting together such a memorable trip!! I wish I did the two week trip!

Having signed up to a trip to Mexico with OWR, the first thing I really noticed when I arrived was how many people had already completed a previous tour with the company and come back to do another. I think that really shows how well done the tours are and what a special company OWR is. Our guides, Tlilal and Steve, were super knowledgeable, friendly, and chatty and really went above and beyond to give us the best experience possible, including helping cater to peoples dietary requirements and even helping organise trips on the free days which should have been their day off! I was a bit worried that I might struggle to make friends whilst on the tour, but everybody was more than welcoming and I never felt left out. By the end, we all got on amazingly. Mexico was absolutely worth the visit. It is vast with so much to see and do, that each spot on the tour almost feels like a different country and its so bright and colourful in a way I’ve just never seen before. My highlight was definitely the canals of Xochimilco. You would think a boat ride along a canal would be calm or even boring, but the crazy energy of all the boats around you, painted in bright colours and swarming with people, food sellers and even live music is almost impossible to describe just in text. Just being able to be there and see them is a memory I will treasure for a very long time. I also had a major soft spot for the Mayan ruins and cenotes of Tulum, which are totally unique to that part of the world. Our tour was also lucky enough to be in Mexico during the Day of the Dead celebrations for 2022 which are a totally unique and amazing experience that really enhanced the experience. If you’re looking for a trip that can cover loads of ground, without the hassle of organising things yourself. I really can’t recommend it enough.

I really liked OWR travelling approach and having done some research about Colombia before hand, the itinerary covered what I had in mind and more – in addition to having everything arranged for me. The activities planned covered the tourist spots that you want to see, and others that introduced you to the culture of the country and would not be easy to experience without local knowledge. We also had days/spare time in between visits where we could explore at our own pace. We rode the Metrocable in Medellin, went on an amazing boat ride in Cartagena, got to the highest point in Bogota and, hiked in Tayrona! All the hotels we stayed at were very good quality and the ones in the cities were close to shops, restaurants, etc. The restaurant selection was excellent and we got the opportunity to try the typical dishes from each region. Travelling within the group makes you feel like you are with a bunch of friends and Steve and Marcela are very friendly and easy to get along. They were really helpful and attentive for the whole trip. I 100% recommend this trip if you like to merge with locals and learn about different cultures.

As someone who loves traveling but hates planning, OWR was the perfect solution. From my first interaction with Steve inquiring about the trip I knew I would be in good hands. He went above and beyond to help facilitate the little planning that had to be done such as looking up flights and providing detailed suggestions for how to prepare and pack for the trip. Being that I like a spontaneous and flexible approach to travel (what my new British travel buddies described as “faffing around” lol) I was a bit hesitant as to whether it would feel too structured. While the trip was pretty jam packed with activities, they were definitely all worthwhile, and Steve did a great job of reading the group’s energy levels day-to-day and accommodating us accordingly. There was also plenty of room for spontaneous experiences, such as a dance class in the park, a drag queen show, a religious parade in the town square, and plenty of opportunities to hang with cute alpacas. OWR was the perfect way to experience the majestic beauty of Peru and the richness of the culture with a group of strangers who quickly became friends. I will forever treasure my memories from this trip!

This Colombia tour has been put together carefully to make sure every day takes your breath away. Super impressed with the itinerary but also the amazing tour guide Diana and photographer Paula. Thank you for looking after us and giving us an unforgettable trip!

Has such a great time on the Colombia trip, perfect mix of activities, downtime and free time. All transport was seamless and the guide went over and above to ensure we had the best possible time, will absolutely be going travelling with these guys again.

In June I went on an incredible trip to Peru with OWR. It was truly unforgettable. I met the most amazing people, and every day felt like a new adventure. One of the best parts was having authentic experiences that didn’t feel touristy. It was also one of the most relaxing trips I’ve been on because once I got there I didn’t have to worry about anything. I was able to sit back and enjoy everything that Peru had to offer. I look forward to booking more trips with OWR!

I’ve just come back from an incredible trip to Mexico with Other Way Round Travel. Having travelled with OWR previously on a trip to Colombia, I was confident that this would be a well thought out itinerary covering a variety of activities that showcase some of the best that Mexico has to offer, staying at lovely hotels and incorporating great food (and drinks). I was not disappointed!

The group was a mix of solo travellers, couples and friends travelling together. Everyone got on well and we had lots of laughs throughout.

It was evident that the hosts had put in a lot of work behind the scenes to ensure the trip ran smoothly. Tlilal was very passionate about her country and it was great to learn about life in Mexico through her experiences. Paula was constantly snapping away, taking lots of pictures and Steve was always happy to help answer questions both prior to and during the trip.

We were fortunate to be there for Dias de Muertos (Day of the Dead festival) and it was amazing to see the parade in Mexico City. Whilst in Oaxaca, we were invited to join a family observe their Dias de Muertos traditions, which was a real honour.

I realise now how little I knew about Mexico and what I saw on this trip exceeded my expectations.

The key highlights of booking with OWR for me are:
Great hotels;
Vegetarians are well catered for (the hosts can help offer recommendations and translate);
Meeting like minded people to travel with (but no pressure to socialise if you fancy doing your own thing);
A variety of different activities, including things which I might not necessarily have tried if I had planned my own itinerary, but really enjoyed;
The stress of planning and organising is taken on by the hosts, so you can switch off and enjoy your holiday.

Travelling with Other Way Round Travel was an amazing experience.
As my first group trip, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect.
The whole experience beat my expectations by a mile.

The itinerary was fantastic, and I felt truly emersed in Peruvian culture, and the friends I made on the trip enhanced the experience so much more.
The trip itself really felt like a number of small adventures put perfectly woven together.
From exploring the city life of Lima, to the Amazon Rainforest to the ancient history of Cusco, Sacred Valley and Manchu Picchu, you really explore it all.
All of the accommodations and restaurants were carefully picked, and add so much to the experience.

A lot of thought was given to the order of ensure we were acclimatized to the altitude.
Especially hiking the Inca Trail and also the optional hike up Vinicunca (Rainbow Mountain) to 17,000ft.

Our guide JC was absolutely outstanding.
His knowledge of the country, its history and culture were unmatched.
He truly become one of the group and someone I will keep in contact with.

We were lucky enough to have Paula as our photographer on our trip to capture all our special moments.
Was great to relieve the whole trip looking through the photos a couple weeks later.

What Steve has built as a company of Other Way Round Travel is more than a travel company, but an amazing travel culture.

Already booked for my next adventure next year!

I traveled on the one week Mountains and Pueblos trip in Colombia and highly recommend Other Way Round Travel! They had every detail of the trip perfectly planned, including surprises along the way, but also were flexible and helpful in assuring that everyone have the uniquely perfect trip for them. The schedule was full of authentic experiences and also included some downtime. Everyone in the group was a like-minded traveler, open to meeting new people and trying new things, and it was a large enough group to get the financial and logistical benefits of group travel but small enough to meet everyone and not feel overwhelmed. I wouldn’t hesitate to travel with OWR again!

I have just returned from the 14 day Colombia All-In Trip with OtherWayRound Travel and can honestly say that it was one of the best adventures of my life so far. I had certain preconceptions about Colombia as a country and I also had slight reservations about booking a tour with a company in its relative infancy- I am so so glad that I went with my gut and put those thoughts aside. Colombia is a vibrant, colourful country full of music, delicious food, dancing and some of the most welcoming people I have met. The OWR Travel itinerary was the perfect mix of activity and downtime and rather than feeling like ticking off requirements from a standard list of tourist spots, instead it felt like living like a local for two weeks. We ate where the locals ate and we danced where the locals danced (although definitely not as well as them!). If Colombia isn’t on your travel bucket list, it should be. If Colombia is already on your travel bucket list, then you should book to go with Other Way Round Travel.

I did the one week trip from Cartagena to Bogotá, it was an amazing trip with some lovely people. Steve and Julian are so involved in the whole trip and that makes it a unique experience, and you will definitely love Colombia! The food was amazing, the rum and party bus and the places were beautiful especially the spa retreat that you stay at when visiting Tayrona national park . Only wish I did the two week tour! Will definitely be visiting Colombia again.

I’ve recently returned the Cartagena, parque tyrona and Bogota trip and I cannot recommend anyone to do the same enough. The whole trip was outstanding from the moment I got there. My only regret is not booking the all in tour instead.

Recently went on the Cartagena-Parque Tayrona-Bogota one week trip – highly recommend OWR. It was a great time – highlights include rum tasting and dancing in Cartagena, amazing views at the park and walking tour/art in Bogota. Lots of variety – relaxing time on the boat/beach and city exploring time, which can be hard to come by, especially when you’re traveling in the winter. I’ve been on other group tours and what is especially great about OWR is that the tour guides are also your age. They really feel like they are part of the group – just the super organized ones who handle all the details and know the local places to go!

What an amazing experience!! Steve and all of the amazing Peruvian Tour guides did a fantastic job showing us around. Getting there was a bit rocky for my friend and I ( thanks to tropical storms in Miami and airport nightmares!) and Steve was in constant communication with us. Once we finally arrived, he made sure that we had someone waiting for us at the airport to take us to the hotel. Once we arrived, Steve being the kind and thoughtful host he is, left dinner with the group to pick us up so that we could join. The rest of the trip was absolutely everything I was hoping for. Everything was well planned out. To my surprise, it included the lovely Paula, a photographer that captured every waking moment. We had the lovely and insightful Katherine, a Peruvian tour guide that stayed with us the entire trip and made sure our transitions from city to city went smoothly. She shared so much knowledge about Peru throughout the entire trip. My favorite part was of course the Machu Picchu! The hike was one of the most difficult ones I’ve done ( my fault for not training in altitude and incline back home haha) and the amazing Peruvian tour guides made sure to stay by my side! They motivated me in so many ways. They even tried to play music for me to help me get to the finish line. I will forever be grateful to Kelly, Katherine, and Manny for making sure I made it to Sun Gate and be able to make one of my dreams come true , to see the gorgeous Machu Picchu. BTW, Manny was AMAZING! He was so knowledgeable and had such a fun personality. It made Cusco so much better. I can keep going, but I will end it with this: Traveling with Other Way Round was truly an amazing experience. Everything was well planned out and executed. I was safe the entire time and never had to worry about anything. Thank you OWR!

I went to Colombia in August 2023 with Other Way Round and had the most amazing time! Steve was brilliant at communicating and is more than happy to answer any questions or worries you may have (so if you are doubting it at all- email 😊 ).

I have travelled alone previously and was slightly unsure about booking a group tour as I wasn’t sure if it might be unauthentic, but this was the total opposite of how it felt, you really get to feel that you know Colombia and the culture during this trip and do things that the locals do too! Diana and Paula are Colombian and are passionate about their cities (Bogotá and Medellín), so having Diana lead the tour and for them both be able to answer any questions we have was fantastic!

One of the many highlights was trying all of the local food in different areas; I found that people (even people who had visited Colombia) could not tell me what food was eaten in Colombia. We were always taken to a place where locals would eat and given different options too if we did fancy something else.

I really did feel that the team catered for everybody with all needs, and the logistics and organisation was brilliant.

My highlights were Comuna 13 in Medellín, visiting a small family run coffee plantation, a hike and beautiful beach at Tayrona National Park, Jardin (so pretty), and Champeta dancing (which I was awful at but it’s so fun!)

We visited different areas of Colombia during this trip, and so I really feel we got to know Colombia. I also made new friends with like minded people, I could not have hoped for a nicer group.

What an amazing, vibrant, and beautiful country! Lots of amazing street art and colourful houses. I want to be back there right now.

Other Way Round have been fantastic from start to finish. Having just finished the Colombia all in tour, I cannot rate them highly enough. I was nervous about going on my first group tour, and my first time in South America, but it has been a totally amazing trip. The itinerary is so well thought out, and goes to places that other companies don’t due to Steve’s exacting nature of exactly how the trips should go. Both Steve and Diana who led the tour were just like having friends on the tour and gave us hints and tips in our free time. I will never forget being told to go straight to the back of a bar for a surprise…not going to spoil it here but it was awesome! I will definitely be going on one of their tours again.

I have always wanted to go to Peru but it is hard to get friends together esp. now that friends are busy and this trip required a long duration . The only way I had to do it was to go solo and find a good tour company to do with. I was sold to the idea of the age range, the charming boutique hotels, and the itinerary which was thought carefully for us to experience Peru in a unique way and it just fitted the things that I want to see and do in Peru. We had active days and also had enough time for down times (which I love). The people that have traveled with is a bonus and made some friends , it was a very good group dynamic + our tour guide , JC was very informative and helpful and funny. Thank you steve and OWR team For making my Peru dream trip possible !! I wouldn’t have done it any other way and would definitely recommend to friends and hope hopefully join another in the future.

I am from the UK and wanted to start travelling to new places with adventure. I found Other Way Round online and the June 2022 Peru trip looked incredible. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint! In fact, it surpassed all my expectations. Steve, Katherine, and Paula as well as the local tour guides were so friendly, helpful, and insightful. One of the things that would put me off travelling to a country like Peru Solo would be all the travel arrangements needed to see the various historical and natural beauties of this country. But all we had to do was turn up and everything was taken care of, tickets, internal flights, transfers and even pick up/ drop off from the airport at the beginning and end of the trip. I was so impressed that the trip also came with a professional photographer who has taken the best holiday photos of my life! (Thanks Paula)

I met the most fantastic people from various places in the world and had a once in a lifetime experience that will stay with me forever. The Amazon and Machu Picchu were very special, the best of it was that the whole thing didn’t feel touristy. It felt like we had the Amazon to ourselves! We saw so much of Peru with unique activities which I would never have been able to do if I was to travel on my own.

I was worried that the difference in culture and language would make things a little difficult, but the tour guides were so amazing and helped me immerse myself into the culture and language. By the end of the trip, I was speaking more Spanish than I ever have done and have come away with some new south American traditions! (Again, thanks Paula) as well as some new friends!
If you are wanting adventure and to meet great new people as well as have some truly one-of-a-kind experiences, then I would strongly suggest you book with Other Way Round Travel. I for sure will be booking with this company again!

Mexico is an amazing country, richer in culture and landscapes than I had realised. Tlilal, Steve and Paula are all amazing with Tlilal really sharing her Mexican culture with us as well as being a really kind, fun and knowledgeable local host. Steve arranged an amazing itinerary once again and Paula took more amazing photos as well as just being lovely too.

I had so many highlights which I couldn’t cover all of here. Loved watching local families chilling on their boats with mariachi bands, dancing, beers and being pretty much the only tourists. Never would have thought I’d enjoy the wrestling but after a couple of beers I was shouting as much as my Mexican seat mates behind me! Being there for Day of the Dead was just real bucket list stuff, even though I try not to have one as there’s so much of the world to see. Swimming in warm Caribbean seas one day and crystal clear cenotes the next. Plus sunset drinks at rooftop bars with lovely people reflecting on ‘pinch me’ days and having a laugh, to the amazing food – it really is foodie heaven out there.

Loved hearing about the cultures and history from Tlilal. And what a variety of architecture we saw during wanders around various cool neighbourhoods, never rushed and stopping as the mood took people.

I travelled on my own as friends have kids and hubby can’t do long haul. The people are always so lovely, like minded and inclusive. Though also respecting space and that everyone wants to do different things on the free days. No herding here! Just travel with a good bunch of people.

There were 11 of us on the trip that were previously on three different Columbia OWR trips. This in itself is an amazing endorsement of Steve’s approach. Think we all had pre trip anxiety that it wouldn’t live up to the previous one, but it did in it’s different but equally great way.

Can’t wait for Steve to put a trip on to a destination that I haven’t been to yet. When he does I’ll be booking straight on it.

After such a break from long distance travel it was soooo good to get back into it and experience such amazing places again.

If in doubt, just book. I know you won’t regret it and will be in great hands with OWR.

Thanks again Steve and Team!

Travelling Peru with OWR has been the whirlwind experience of a lifetime! From making ceviche in Lima, hiking the 104k Inca trail to Machu Picchu and finding Giant river otters in lake Sandoval, the itinerary was planned so thoughtfully. Every detail had been anticipated in advance and I got to completely relax knowing Steve and JC had got it covered! Our guide JCs knowledge and passion for his native Peru was unending, many bus journeys were spent learning about his culture, family and history when we all thought we’d be sleeping! A special mention to our photographer Paula, often behind the picture but never forgotten, someone who could make the naturally unphotogenic feel comfortable for the first time! Who took some amazing pictures for us to look back on with great fondness. Thank you! A lot of people will travel to Peru for it’s sights and scenery but this trip has proven the old adage that ‘people make places’ to be true. I’ve certainly met the best of them in both the Peruvian people and my fellow travellers who I can now call friends! Even if you’ve never done a group trip before, any itinerary with OWR will set a high precedent, you’ll be glad you did it!!

Mexico was my second trip with Other Way Round, which speaks to my satisfaction with this tour company. Steve is an excellent planner who strives to provide travelers with an authentic experience. As a busy professional from New York City, I appreciate that Other Way Round handles most of the logistics—meals, transportation, language translation, etc. And considering all the moving parts of this trip (two flights), the guides were always available to make sure we were in the right place at the right time.

Similar to my prior trip to Colombia, Mexico was a magical and visual experience, and the carefully orchestrated itinerary highlights a truly diverse and cultural country. From the lively celebrations of Dias de Los Muertos in Mexico City to the colorful artisanal markets in Oaxaca, as well as the calm, crystal-clear waters of Tulum, there is something on this trip for everyone.

Other Way Round also attracts like-minded, kind, fun, and easy-going people from all around the world. While you may arrive solo, you’ll end up leaving with a second family!

My recent trip with Other Way Round Travel was a wonderful experience and allowed me to see a side of Mexico which most people are not aware of. I have a new appreciation of the history of Mexico, the diversity across the country and the vast potential there is for further exploration and travel. The itinerary was full of amazing activities and also free days and time to allow you to pursue your own interests and unwind. I travelled with friends but there were many solo travellers on the trip and the group was really inclusive and gelled well.

The hosts were great. Tlilal was a really passionate and knowledgeable guide and it was obvious she loved showing people her country, of which she is very proud. Having Paula take pictures allowed everyone to be in the moment and not feel they had to document the trip for themselves. She also blended with the group easily and her taking pictures was a comfortable experience, even for those of us who may not typically love being photographed. Steve is a very considered host and it is obvious he has worked hard to develop links with people and places in Mexico to enable travellers to see real parts of the country.

Overall, I would highly recommend travelling with Steve and Other Way Round Travel and I hope to explore another destination with the company at some point in the future.

I need to remember this is a review and not a travel blog so cutting straight to the point, Other Way Round Travel and the environment Steve has created is amazing.

I was a solo traveller and on my first group tour and the level of service from the point I enquired, right until getting home was honestly so personable and reassuring. No questions too big or small and they always had our safety, comfort and convenience at the forefront of their minds.

The tour of Peru had been so well thought out and put together and I thought the itinerary was the best of the other tours I was looking at. The rainforest, one day trek of the inca trail, machu picchu, plus everything else the cities of Lima and Cusco have to offer really gives you an insight into what makes Peru amazing.

I was part of a good group of like minded people and so there was always someone there to do what you wanted to, or the itinery allowed you to take the space and time if you wanted it.

JC as a tour leader was great. Really went above and beyond for everyone and it was difficult not to get on board with his positive energy and love of his country.

A few of us did different things on our free day and they were able to help organise it all which was helpful. FYI I climbed Palccoyo and it really was such a special time- highly reccomend. Our guide Ever (spelling to be apologised for and corrected!) was amazing and the scenery was next level.

It is also probably worth saying that as a veggie I was concerned that I would be living on rice for the entire trip but that was not the case at all. We were all well catered for and all weird and wonderful dietary requirements were considered in equal measure which was also a nice touch because you were never an after thought.

If you are on the fence about using Other Way Round Travel or going on their Peru trip I am happy to confirm that you needn’t be. This trip was an amazing life experience and totally worth it. My next task is to look at the other trips they have available and get booking onto my next adventure.

Muchas gracias Steve, 10/10.

I joined the 2022 OWR trip to Peru. This was my first solo trip outside of Europe and my first time in South America. it was therefor important that I could trust the company I was travelling with to make all the arrangements as well as with the important job of choosing all the best things to see and do. Steve did a great job on both counts with excellent planning and the inside scoop! the trip was a great mix or fun, adventure, scenery and downtime. the group were great fun and I have made friends for life. travelling this way took so much of the stress out of the trip and really allowed me to relax and enjoy every moment. I will definitely be travelling with OWR again. book now! Happy travelling: )

I’ve done a few group trips in my time and this was by far one of the best. I just got back from the 2 week trip in Colombia. Steve’s itinerary was really well thought out with a mixture of cities, towns, countryside, nature and beaches. There were plenty of arranged activities and also downtime to relax or see what you fancied doing at the time. The tour attracted a lot of like-minded solo travelers, our guide Diana was knowledgeable, organised, friendly and fun, and we all had a blast! There were so many highlights of the Colombia trip Comuna 13, the coffee plantation, the Cartagena party bus (!), the spa hotel in the national park… I’d definitely recommend this trip and I’m already looking at Mexico for my next one.

I had the most amazing trip. I felt like I’d been living in Colombia for a few months rather than visiting for two weeks. It’s going to be really tough to top this experience.

This was my first group trip, so I was a little apprehensive but I didn’t need to be as the group and the leaders were great company.

I knew from the website itinerary that the trip was going to be good, but it turned out to be the trip of a lifetime. So many great experiences, and fun memories shared with the group.
I highly recommend the two week Colombia trip.

I will definitely look to book another trip with OWR in the future. It was very useful and reassuring having direct contact contact with Steve leading up to the trip and throughout. The pre-trip information Steve sent was very informative, which helped me get prepared for the trip. The whole trip was super organised.

Our group leader Diana worked tirelessly to keep things on track which enabled the group to focus on enjoying the trip. Diana was so helpful and caring, knowledgeable, and also great company. An extra friend in the group.
I also loved that we had a professional photographer accompany the trip. Which again meant the group could get on with enjoying the trip knowing the trip would be captured for us. Our photographer, Paula, was sooooo much fun. It was a joy to have her company too.

I really liked the hotels and their locations selected for the trip. And the rooms were big enough to make sharing easy.
I think the whole group was in heaven at the Kantawa hotel near Parque Tayrona. It was amazing having such a lovely location to ourselves. Well almost ourselves – it turned out the toads liked to take a dip in the pool in the evenings, to much amusement to the group.

I’m so glad I chose the Colombia trip. Experiencing Colombia made me feel alive. And travelling with Other Way Round gave me the connection and joy I was looking for in a trip.

To sum things up…

What I loved about Colombia :
– colour everywhere
– music
– dancing
– the friendly people
– street entertainment
– the views
– tropical fruits
– tropical plants, and lushness
And I loved that it was not touristy on the whole.

Trip highlights:
– Comuna 13 tour finished off with the chance to try some graffiti
– Jardin
– Coffee farm visit and Jeep ride there
– seeing a Sloth in a park in Cartegena
– Diana and Paula teaching some Colombian dance moves
– Champetta dance class
– dancing with the locals
– Tayrona Parque trek and Idyllic beaches
– hearing Howler monkeys in the jungle
– Kantawa Spa Hotel
– Trying Colombian food and drinks

The Colombia tour had so much variety it felt like more than one trip. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to go on this trip. I keep looking over and over my photos and videos so I can re-live the amazing experience. If you get the opportunity, go for it!

I had an amazing time on the 2 week Peru trip with Other Way Round. I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone wanting to experience a different culture with a great group of like minded travellers. Steve has created a really authentic trip, which hits all the main sights and many more without ever feeling too touristy or mainstream.

I have done a fair amount of travelling solo, and wasn’t sure what to expect from a group tour, but Steve has created a great trip that feels just like travelling with a group of friends (except for the fact everything is perfectly organised!) The local guides that were with us throughout really made the trip. Their passion for Peru shone through, and it was wonderful to experience their country with them. Shout out to JC for the many incredible stories!

My highlight was definitely our one day hike on the Inca trail to Machu Picchu. I was a bit nervous about it beforehand, but we were very well looked after and had several guides with us so that everyone could go at their own pace. The hike is beautiful in its own right, but that first view of Machu Picchu from the Sun Gate really is a wow moment, and makes all the effort completely worth it. There were too many other great experiences on our trip to count, from seeing giant river otters and sloths in the Amazon to admiring the views of Cusco from the ruins of Sacsayhuaman, every day brought something different. If you get the chance I would highly recommend a trip to Palcoyo on the final free day. The scenery is breath taking and the peace and tranquillity made it the perfect place to soak in all of the wonderful experiences from our time in Peru – it was well worth the long drive.

Massive thanks to Steve, JC, Paula and all of our guides for an awesome trip, hope to see you on another one soon.

TravellingHave just returned from am amazing trip to Mexico with OWR. The trip did not fail to impress or live up to the high expectations that had been set by an equally amazing trip with OWR to Colombia in 2019.

The itinerary was great, with plenty of unique experiences (lucha libre, Mezcal farm, indigenous pottery making), cultural highlights (including optional trips to Teotihuacan and Chichen Itza) and lots of amazing food, as well as enough free time to do your own thing.
The group was a great mix of friends, couples and single travellers, and although the majority of the group had been on a previous OWR tour (not all together), the group got along brilliantly, and we had some great laughs.

Steve, Tlilal and Paula, while working incredibly hard, felt more like part of the group rather than hosts/guides/photographer. Even though this was the first run of the Mexico tour, it was faultless and testament to the hard work and research that Steve puts in to making OWR trips unforgettable.

Highlights of the trip for me were the incredible Day of the Dead celebrations in Mexico City and Oaxaca, the colourful streets in Oaxaca, and the cenotes in Tulum. And of course the food!

Once again, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend OWR for amazing, unforgettable experiences, and also Mexico as a colourful, fascinating and diverse country.

A lot of my friends and family thought I was crazy when I told them I had booked my first solo trip to Mexico. I had never travelled that far on my own, my Spanish was limited, which meant it was quite the daunting adventure .. until I landed …

I found myself amongst people who were like minded, up for a laugh and respectful. We became a little family, full of big brothers, drunk uncles, mothers with first aid kits. It was like we had known each other for years as opposed to days, truly a pleasure to travel around with.

The tour itself was very well organised, hosts and guides were extremely passionate about each activity, knowledgeable and were more than helpful on free days and down time.

There are too many highlights to mention but one of experiences I am truly grateful for is the visit to the cemetery. I thought we were just going to have a little walk around, look at the offerings and take in the ambiance, but instead we met a local family and helped them clean, lay flowers and help entice their cousins soul home to them

I have made friends for life, core memories and have had once in a life time experiences…. I’ve even been converted to liking guacamole! Would I recommend this trip? YES, I would I recommend this company ? YES

I look forward to booking future tours with them it’s just so hard to chose what one next!

I have only just returned to the UK following the 2-week Colombia All In trip. I’m definitely suffering with post holiday blues, and am very cold! However, I am still warmed by the amazing memories that I have from the trip. The guides (Steve and Júlián) were super knowledgable and passionate and were clearly focussed on giving us the best Colombian experience. But even better, they both felt like another one of the group members… banter off the scale, in-jokes and terrible (sorry Steve) dancing! I met a whole bunch of like minded travellers from across the globe who just like me were excited about seeing new places, meeting new people and learning about this amazing country. I will never forget this trip. Not only because of the country itself, but because of the experience that Other Way Round gave me and the other group members. It was a trip of a lifetime and you will be missing out if you don’t just book it!

Colombia has been on my wish list for a long time and I was so glad I waited until ‘Other Way Round’ had been set up! I’ve travelled a lot and had some amazing experiences, but never quite so many in one place in such a short space of time! From the exquisite coffee farm experience to the private boat around the Rosario islands to the rum tasting with the best of the business and the ‘Chivarumbera’ for a true Colombian experience, I can honestly say I’ve fallen in love with the place. The reason I decided to go with a small group tour rather than by myself, was initially due to time and the fact that you get to experience so much of the country, but it became so much more than that. It might sound like a cheese-filled arrepa, but by day 3 I was sure the other people on the tour had been handpicked for me – one of them is on the way to visit me as I write! It also meant that all decisions on excursions and accommodation were organised for me which was so worth it in itself, knowing that the planned experiences were exactly how I like to get to know a country, from dancing and hiking to arrepas by the side of the road. I was slightly worried beforehand that as a Spanish speaker I wouldn’t get to speak Spanish but the fact that one of our tour guides was Colombian and the locals were so friendly, I got to speak Spanish every day! If you’re the sort of person who likes to experience the true essence of a country, learn about its history, meet the locals, try the food (and drink!) and give something back, then frankly what are you waiting for?! There are various tour companies that may offer some similar experiences, but none quite so personal and with quite so many bants I’m sure.

I went on the Medellín-Jardín-Guatapé trip in July 2019, and I can truly say this was the very best trip I have ever been on! I even had another international trip the following week, but it just didn’t live up to the wonder that was Colombia. The biggest difference was that I planned the other trip myself; in Colombia, I had the expert guidance of the Other Way Round team. This was my first time going on an organized group trip, and it by far exceeded my expectations! Every worry of logistics planning was in the very capable hands of Steve and his OWR team. However, it still felt incredibly personal because unlike the other large travel firms, Steve, Julián and the OWR team intimately know the Colombian cities, people and experiences. I felt like I was getting more than the average tourist – instead, I was being immersed in the Colombian culture. Every step of the way, we had hyperlocal guides who helped enrich the experience – from learning to play Tejo and attempting to salsa dance, to sipping café at a coffee finca and touring historical sites. But there was still ample time to explore the area independently and do my own thing (with great WiFi if you too find you need to do a bit of work). Thanks, Other Way Round, for such a wonderful, well planned, flexible, and magical time. I look forward to joining the Cartagena-Bogotá tour in the future!

This was my first experience of South America and one of my most memorable, fun and special trips ever. I checked out so many companies to do a Colombia tour with and I’m so glad I chose OWR. Steve was great and more like a friend on tour – he truly wanted to give everyone an authentic experience of the real Colombia, which is what we got! We were so lucky to have such a great fun group – I don’t think I’ve laughed so much and some of us are still friends now and in touch with each other. My highlights include the Comuna 13 tour, Rosario Islands, non stop laughter at the Champeta lesson and the coffee farm experience. Truly special!! I liked the choice of restaurants by Steve, with our last night in Medellin being a stand out evening! Thank you for an amazing trip, it’s one I will never forget and I hope you start doing other South American tours soon!

Two weeks in Colombia with people that you don’t know. Yes the idea seems frightening at first but as soon as you get there all that fear turns into excitement and absolute awe. Colombia is a stunning , beautiful country that is a must on the bucket list for all travellers looking for amazing beaches , beautiful colourful town and streets , great music and ambiance as well as wonderfully friendly locals and great food and plenty of activities. Being in Colombia was in visiting 5 different countries all at the same time. From the intense humidity in Cartagena to horse riding in Parque Tayrona. What I loved about this trip was that it didn’t feel mass produced and touristy. There was a sense of originality to it and uniqueness about the trip and the itinerary. Steve and Julian were absolute gents throughout the whole trip. We were able to build a connection with them and in the end they were fellow travellers with us rather than our tour guides and that made the experience even more personal for me. As a group we gelled so well that it felt like we had known each other for more than two weeks. There is an activity that suits everyone from hikes to playing Tejo to sun bathing. I would highly and strongly recommend this trip. By the end you will be so gutted to be leaving. My favourite part of the trip was Chiva Rumbera a lot of music, a lot of dancing so much fun. Colombian history is completely misunderstood and this trip helps to put what the country has to offer in context and gets rid of that stigma so Come to Colombia You will LOVE IT.

Having been on numerous group holidays with more than 5 different companies, my standards are high and I can honestly say that Other Way Round is head and shoulders above all of them. The people, the places, the activities…. I really couldn’t ask for more … but what takes this company from great to phenomenal are Steve, Marcela and Julian. They are a wealth of knowledge and even when there were questions they couldn’t answer (I asked a lot!), they would go out of their way to find out. If one of us mentioned we wanted to see or try something, it wouldn’t be long until they found a way to deliver. They totally spoilt us. The itinerary was packed with great activities. We got to experience the local culture and I learned so much about the history of Colombia. We had a wild boat ride (possibly one of the scariest and most thrilling rides of my life), enjoyed beautiful beaches, ate the most amazing food and let’s not forget the incredible coffee! Every day was an adventure and, other than friendly encouragement to overcome our fears, there was no pressure to do anything we didn’t want to. Steve, Marcela & Julian are the nicest, most helpful people who care about you experiencing Colombia and coming to love it as much as they do. They are also a lot of fun and had great energy every day no matter how late they had gone to bed or how early they had woken! I was impressed with their customer service from the start with Steve answering all my concerns and even sending me different suggestions for flights and insurance. When some of the group’s flights were delayed, Julian and Steve made sure that one of them was still there to meet them and get them to the rest of us. Nothing was too much hassle … it took me weeks to adjust to the real world without Steve or Julian sorting everything out! Colombia is an incredible country and I really cannot recommend Other Way Round highly enough …. my only criticism is that they do not offer more locations so that I can go away with them again! Thank you Other Way Round for a fabulous holiday – a truly wonderful experience that I will never forget.

The memories of my trip to Colombia will stay with me for a very long time. I didn’t know much about the country or what to expect, putting my full faith in my tour guides, and was continually impressed by this amazing country (and the tour guides!). Everyday was a new and different adventure: from city and countryside walking tours, to salsa dancing, planting trees in Parque Arvi, trying all the local foods, being welcomed into the home of a local coffee farmer, and the thrill of playing the indigenous (and very explosive!) game of Tejo. Every step of the way the tour guides Steve, Julian and Andrew chose the most interesting and vibrant things to do, places to visit and local, knowledgeable guides. They were always willing to give tips and advice, particularly when I wanted to practice expanding my limited language skills. They also provided free time so we could wander the towns to soak in the atmosphere, sip some coffee or wine and do some shopping. And it all came together smoothly for a stress-free trip. I can’t stop raving about Colombia and this brilliant tour. Everyone should do themselves a favour and visit Colombia before the rest of the world finds out how wonderful it is…and remember to bring your appetite!

Do I recommend Other Way Round? Yes yes yes! If you’re reading the reviews you are probably where I was, on the fence about where to go, how to do it (group travel?!?), & if so, with what travel company. I did the 2-week All-In trip and had the most amazing, unforgettable experience! I had never done anything like this—a group travel nor had I been to South America! So adventure all around! These are like-minded travelers and I must say being in a group allowed me to do things I wouldn’t have otherwise been able to do on my own. Not to mention all the laughing, stories, pics, & inside jokes that formed!!! A great thing specifically about OWR, the group is small enough that when you’re going to a place you don’t necessarily stand out too much or unnecessarily have to wait in lines. That no waiting thing also has to do with the awesome planning done behind the scenes from rides planned out to restaurants to tickets already purchased. Steve & Julian work great together in making sure you are taken care of. I 100% am glad I went! And I can cherish this travel adventure with me always! ❤️ Favorite place-Jardín and/or Rosario Islands Favorite food- was surprised I liked all of it! Favorite night-rum tasting & chiva rumberra.

I looked at a lot of tours in Colombia with various companies before booking. I thought that the itinerary of the two week OWR tour looked very promising, and well thought through. This proved to be the case, with many memorable activities and places enjoyed along the way. It certainly exceeded my expectations. Given that OWR is a fairly new company, and tourism is not fully established in Colombia (at least in some parts), I was expecting there to be a few hiccups along the way, but everything on the tour was extremely slick, and went like clockwork. This was down to the hard work that Steve (and Julian) put in behind the scenes, as well as the fact that the local guides that are used at various points on the tour are all of high quality. It really is difficult to pick favourite parts of the trip but I loved Jardin and Parque Tayrona. Also the rum tasting and the Champeta class for pure comedy value! Many other tours in Colombia visit Salento and the Cocora Valley. Having also done this on my own after the OWR trip, while it was certainly worth a visit, I would say that Jardin is the better option. I found it to have more charm than Salento which is much more touristy. We also had an excellent mix of people within the group and we had a lot of laughs along the way! More generally I would highly recommend visiting Colombia. It is an extremely interesting and varied country. In my experience the people are also very friendly and welcoming towards foreigners. I would be surprised if there are many (if any) tours better than OWR, especially in a similar price range.

As someone who has always been hesitant to book a group tour owing to my nervousness of being around people for that length of time, let alone people I do not know, I can honestly say my experience with OWR has completely dispelled my fear. 2 weeks in Colombia with an awesome group of people (Steve, Marcela and Julian included in that) was the perfect way to start 2020. The tour was well planned and organised and provided such an incredible insight into the diversity of the country. I honestly cannot say which bit was my favourite as every place had such individual character and a charm and vibrancy of its own. Colombian people could not have been more welcoming from the quaint boutique hotel staff to the residents of Comuna 13 and all the other locals we met along the way. I cannot emphasise how highly I would recommend a visit to Colombia and particularly with OWR and their awesome itinerary and personal touches to enhance the experience and provide an authentic Colombian experience.

I can’t recommend Other Way Round enough. I have never travelled as part of a tour before, preferring to arrange my own itinerary. However, I was tempted by OWR, as their itinerary was varied, they stay in nice accommodation and the 25-45 age range. I travelled with my cousin and two friends and we all loved it. The rest of the group were all really nice and easy to get on with. The hosts were amazing and very passionate about Colombia. They have clearly put in a lot of work to make this tour enjoyable, providing great excursions and using experienced guides. Another bonus for me was the food. I am vegetarian and sometimes this can restrict me trying local foods as I don’t know what I can and can’t eat. However on this trip, I had a great variety of food and was able to taste lots of traditional Colombian food. This holiday exceeded my expectations and I am hoping OWR expand to include other destinations so I can join them again. Please feel free to get in touch if you are looking to book and have any questions.

I must admit I was a little worried that the group wouldn’t be a good fit or that we’d get stuck doing the more obvious touristy things. However very soon after arriving my scepticism totally disappeared as it became clear this was going to be something different. I normally prefer to organise trips like this myself but am so happy that this time I chose Other Way Round as they took us to places and lined up experiences which we could never have planned by ourselves. And I love the fact that they give back to the community by donating to local charities – a must do for me! I will forever hold my Colombian trip as one of my most memorable and if you get the chance to do this trip don’t hesitate, just GO!

I recently returned from the 14-day Colombia All-in trip, and had a such a fantastic time! The 2 weeks were jam-packed! Their passion and expertise on the country are second to none!

Biggest thanks to Other Way Round for hosting the most wonderful and memorable trip. I was looking for a more authentic Colombian experience but after a hectic few months at work also wanted something equally fun and relaxing. And boy did you deliver! From the yummiest of food, to eye-opening comuna visits, to lazy afternoons by the pool, to countryside rendezvous, to late-night salsa – this trip had it all. Not to mention those Colombian drinking games! And the best part: although it’s all super-well organised, it still manages to maintain a very informal feel which never really feels like being on a ‘tour group’. The group dynamic worked great as there was an interesting mix of couples and singletons all with a similar outlook on travel. I couldn’t recommend this trip highly enough.

Having never heard of the tour company I decided to contact them and ask a few questions before hand. The responses were quick and reassuring which put my mind at ease. I went ahead and booked to go on the November trip for the full two weeks. It was an amazing two weeks with a great bunch of people and guides. It was a pretty jam packed tour with lots going on. The tour of Comuna 13 by Doc was amazing. You really got to see the vibrant part of the city whilst also gaining an understanding of how it came to be, the communities struggles and how its transforming itself. This part of the tour wasn’t the most appealing aspect to me when I booked but my opinion of it really changed and I’d say it’s one of the best parts of the entire tour. I also really enjoyed visiting the coffee farm and learning about how it is grown. The farmers were really knowledgeable and welcoming and loved answering all our questions. We even got to pick our own and watch it get processed. Another part I enjoyed was the tour of Bogota and learning about the cities history from Camila. She took us up Monserrate, through old town, told us all about Bolivar and we even got to try some of the indigenous drink Chicha! Camila was really knowledgeable and told the story of the city without being boring or taking up too much time. I’d have liked a to find out a bit more about the history of the cities of Medellin and Cartagena in a similar way and feel the tour could benefit from this. However, this doesn’t detract from the overall tour experience which I still highly recommend. If like me you’re not the most energetic person then I’d also recommend renting a horse for the Parque Tayrona hike back as the hike to the beach was exhausting. Riding horseback with other members of the group was also an hilarious experience with lots of laugh out loud moments! In our free time in Medellin Steve managed to arrange for us to go on a Pablo Escobar tour which is run by an ex cop called Carlos. He was a really enthusiastic guide and helped tell the story of Colombia through one of its most difficult periods. He didn’t glorify Escobar and gave his first hand account of some of the atrocities that he witnessed during his service. This aspect of the tour was amazing and really interesting. Carlos also arranged for us to meet Escobar’s brother and visit the family museum. This was in addition to the core tour run by Carlos. Whilst I wouldn’t recommend this part, as it is incredibly biased and glorifies Escobar, it’s a testament to Carlos that he would even speak to the brother of the man who put his life at risk and caused the deaths of many of his fellow cops. He really allowed you reach your own conclusions and offered to show you both sides of the story – if you do want to learn more about this period in Colombian history Carlos is your man. Overall it was an amazing trip and as a group we laughed so much. I’d never been on a group tour before but I’d defiantly do it again. I only hope others are as enjoyable. I highly recommend Other Way Around Travel and visiting Colombia. It’s a truly diverse country with so many sites and climates. Steve and Julian really bring the energy and help you navigate a country which is still in the early days of international tourism. They helped simplify the experience of travelling around a country that’s yet to experience mass tourism and managed to make Colombia accessible to people like me who could never have navigated it alone.

I did an eight-day group tour of Medellin in November. What an amazing experience! I started the planning process months in advance and felt a little nervous about the trip given Colombia’s sordid past. The palpable sense of vitality and optimism in the region, however, soon revealed itself to me, and I realized that the only risk of this trip was not wanting to leave! I regret my decision to do a one-week tour of Colombia instead of the “All In.” It was excruciating to leave behind some great new friends knowing that they would continue on without me to fantastic experiences in Cartagena and Bogota. My reluctance to leave testifies to the trip’s high level of coordination. I don’t speak Spanish, and I wanted to go with people who were knowledgeable and familiar with the area to watch out for me and my safety. I cannot stress enough how secure and relaxed I felt on the entire trip. Steve was extremely accessible and even stayed at the same hotel. I could text him any question, day or night, and receive an immediate response. Julián, who accompanied Steve, assisted with translation and offered wonderful suggestions to complement our action-packed itinerary. The trip was orchestrated to perfection, with every t crossed and every i dotted. I lacked for not a single snippet of necessary information: “it’s all in your travel packet.” Plus, Steve sends nightly messages by WhatsApp on local weather conditions and recommendations on what to wear for the next day’s activities. For myself, with a demanding job in New York City, this detailed logistical planning and efficient organization was such an asset. I could just show up and enjoy the trip! This stress-free mode of travel exceeded my expectations. I had many fun adventures (and lots of laughs), but for me the highlights of the trip included our trip to Comuna 13 to see the bold and intricate graffiti lining the walls of what used to be Medellin’s infamous danger zone. The vibrant colors—yellow, pink, and turquoise—make this section the most photogenic place I’ve ever been. It’s impossible to take a bad photo when there’s beautiful art at every turn. Speaking of photos, Steve takes a lot and shares them, so I could experience each moment instead of worrying about capturing it. Besides the many breathtaking views, I appreciated that the tour incorporated interactive elements. The Comuna 13 tour was led by the street artist “Doc,” who allowed our group to create our own graffiti and learn about the craft. I felt similarly about visiting the coffee finca. While the sprawling coffee fields and lush surroundings are out of this world, we also picked coffee berries and were educated on the coffee-making process, from beginning to end, by lovely and passionate coffee farmers. It made me realize how much hard work goes into one cup of coffee. I now appreciate my morning brew even more! Although brief, my introduction to Colombia and meeting new people was such a positive experience. I thoroughly enjoyed a balanced week of travel that included city adventures, salsa dancing, local cuisine, and culture, as well as guided and independent excursions. I had never done a group tour before, but this kind of travel will certainly be part of my future plans. I only wish Other Way Round did more group trips in South America!

I was lucky enough to be a part of the most recent trip – and what an experience it was. Steve, Marcela and Julian were exceptional hosts – and the huge amount of thought that had gone into the activities was evident. The two week trip exceeded all my expectations and really opened my eyes to what a phenomenal country this is. For me, it had the right balance of physical activity, history, culture and free time. The group I was with were fantastic. All different in our own ways, but with the same like-minded approach to the trip. This meant a lot of fun and laughter along the way! I can 100% recommend OWR. I’ve done trips with similar tour groups before, but this one really had the personal touch. Thanks to you all for giving me an unforgettable experience! Thinking Colombia? Think Other Way Round. You won’t regret it

I can’t speak highly enough about Colombia or Other Way Round. The country is amazing and having been to various places in the world I can honestly say Colombia was my favourite experience. As good as Colombia is Steve, Julian and our group made the experience even better. Julian is a proud Colombian who gives a perspective of what it’s like to live and work there and Steve might as well be Colombian given his passion for the country and it’s people. They were professional and friendly and you could definitely see the pride they have in the country and this is a passion for them as much as it is a business. The fact our group WhatsApp from the tour is still active is a testament to the atmosphere the guys helped to foster.

Travelling to Colombia with Other Way Round was hands-down the most unique travel experience I’ve had. I’ve always wanted to visit Colombia and as a solo traveller the idea of going on a more tailored small group trip had a lot of appeal. I loved the sheer variety involved and had a whole host of highlights. The colourful streets in Guatape, climbing La Piedra, rum tasting in Cartagena, the breathtaking beaches in Parque Tayrona. There’s so many carefully planned little details along the way which make every moment feel extra special. And while I absolutely loved our group, I also really liked that I could venture off on my own from time to time. It also made getting back together in the evening all the more fun. Truly amazing experience, do it!

I visited Colombia with Other Way Round in October/November 2018 and had a jam-packed two weeks seeing 4 different areas of this varied country, chatting to locals, learning about the country’s past, hiking, dancing, eating delicious food and exploring the country with like-minded and interesting people! The group was really good and Steve has included a good range of different activities in the itinerary so there really is something for everyone! My personal highlights include Cartagena where we had a private speedboat to take us to the white-sand Caribbean Islands, dinner in the women’s prison, Comuna 13 in Medellin and the salt cathedral in Zipaquira, Bogota. The salsa and champeta lessons were also super fun, despite being quite apprehensive about them!

We liked the look of Other Way Round as it seemed perfectly geared towards people of our age and style of travel. It turned out to be a pretty epic decision! Colombia is such a cool country anyway, but to see it in this way through the lens of the people who live there was something else. Amazing trip filled with too many highlights to mention. For me hiking through the jungle in Parque Tayrona and staying at the hacienda in the hills of Medellin were absolute standouts. Very cool bunch of people to travel with and Marce and Steve felt very much like part of the group as well as being great hosts. They are a wonderful couple who love nothing more than to share their passion for life and Colombia with everyone they meet. Thanks guys, we won’t forget this trip!

I have just returned from the two week ‘All In’ trip offered by Other Way Round and I had an absolute blast! The booking process is really straightforward and Steve will answer all your questions promptly, no matter how silly they seem. The company is very well run and extremely organised; they have thought of everything to make your trip as stress free and run as smoothly as possible. Pre-trip communication was very good and the information pack provided before departure is very detailed and thorough. One thing that makes Other Way Round different from other trip companies is the personal touch offered. The co-founder of the company, Steve, is also the person who communicates with you, sorts out the itinerary and also comes on the trip with you. This personal service is much more welcome than a large, faceless international company and is one of Other Way Round’s strengths. The hosts, Steve and Julián, are friendly, welcoming and so much fun! Our group had so many laughs and jokes and Steve and Julián felt like part of the group, not our guides. The itinerary itself was a very careful mix of culture, nature and everything in between. I thought it was perfectly pitched to allow everything to be seen, but not felt like you were rushing. The very best highlights of Colombia have been handpicked and arranged in a manageable schedule. Free days and a few hours of downtime are also scheduled in to the itinerary so you can explore your own interests or just relax. Having everything booked and planned for you was also a huge plus factor for me. I usually travel DIY, where I arrange and book everything myself, and it was such a welcome change to have all that time and stress of booking the different elements of the trip taken away from me. All I had to think about was enjoying myself, which made me enjoy the trip even more. My highlights of the trip were visiting Comuna 13 (a notoriously dangerous zone which is now transformed with graffiti, music and a cool vibe), the absolutely stunning town of Jardín, nestled in the middle of beautiful mountains, and Parque Tayrona which is the most beautiful rainforest, with different flora at every turn. We also played Tejo (Colombia’s national sport involving gunpowder!), danced salsa and Champeta, picked our own coffee beans at a local finaca, ate the most delicious food and visited tropical islands. Such a varied and action packed couple of weeks which I’ll never forget. Just a quick word on Colombia itself – its chequered past is well documented but please don’t let that stop you from visiting this beautiful country. The people are so friendly and proud of their country and for good reason. It has so much to offer, both culturally and naturally. It is such a diverse place and should be on everyone’s travel list. If any preconceptions or worries are stopping you from booking this trip, or visiting Colombia in general, just book it. You won’t regret it.

This was was first time doing a group travel and I had an awesome experience. Steven and Julian were very knowledgeable about Colombia and were awesome hosts and they provided knowledgeable guides from the town to provide historical backgrounds about the town. My favorite part of the trip was Cartagena, Old Cartagena was absolutely awesome. Walking through the town and seeing the different architecture of the building, from the graffiti to the hanging umbrella each street was so different. I also enjoyed the boat ride to Rosario island, snorkeling and going to the various beaches. I also like the enjoyed the rum tasting too. I highly recommend using Other Way Round especially if you travel solo because even though you’re with a group you don’t miss out on having a individual experience. The days were well planned out but you still have time for yourself and have the opportunity to take a day to explore Colombia by yourself or with a small group. I would absolutely go to Colombia again with Other Way Round.

Just got back from a fabulous week in Colombia! We spent 3 nights in Cartagena, 2 in Parque Tayrona, and 2 in Bogota. It was my first trip to South America and was a little worried since I had read a lot of reviews from solo female travelers about harassment they had received or the robbery and crime toward foreigners and residents alike. I was relieved to find none of these negative reviews to be accurate. Steve and Julian were our tour guides / hosts / friends for the week. I can’t say enough about these guys…very professional and knowledgeable about Colombia. I thought I already knew a lot about the culture and found out I had a lot to learn.  All of the accommodations were fabulous and were special to the location. All of the transport was private and easy to go from one location to another. My favorite part of trip was Parque Tayrona, however, the 2.5 hours each way to the beach was pretty rough on me. I thought I was in shape but this hike kicked my butt. However, the beach was beautiful and like nothing I had seen before. Also, the private cruise of the Rosario Islands in Cartagena was a huge highlight. It was a beautiful day and we had a wonderful local lunch on a small island. This tour left such an impression on me that I’m considering coming back for another tour with this company for the week in Medellin and Antioquia (which were places I would never have originally considered).

The holiday blues were real! I have been on many a trip in a group but this was different. At the welcome talk you heard the experiences of the hosts growing up, how different, colourful and amazing it is now, and then you spend the rest of the trip experiencing it. This is no corporate tour. It was like having lots of personal tour guides, not because they were paid to but because they were passionate about this amazing country. Steve, Julian, Paula and Marcela all felt like part of the group not like tour guides. They were amazing hosts and just wanting to share their love of an amazing place. Within hours of a being there it was obvious that this trip really lived up to , and surpassed, the website hype and photos. The places look even better in real life! The country is amazingly colourful and the people are just the friendliest. Just go! This is the best trip you will ever take.

Steve and Julian are so involved in the whole trip and that makes it a unique experience, and you will definitely love Colombia!
