Our Route Through South Africa & Victoria Falls
Itinerary
Day 1
SAWUBONA, CAPE TOWN!
Welcome to Cape Town, South Africa’s Mother City and one of the most stunning places on Earth. You’ll be met at the airport and taken to your hotel. After checking in and settling down, we’ll regroup for a quick orientation and a warm hello from our tour leader. Then it’s time to dive right in with dinner (with Table Mountain in the backdrop!) where you’ll be treated to a feast of flavours from across the continent. A proper foodie welcome to Southern Africa and the perfect chance to meet your group and start building the connections that will shape this journey.
Day 2
CAPE PENINSULA + KAYAKING
We kick-off with a day of ocean and wildlife as we explore the vast Cape Peninsula surrounding the city. The morning begins with a kayaking trip from Simon’s Town, paddling through calm waters where seals play and, if you’re lucky, you’ll see penguins swim past your kayak. Once ashore, a stroll along Boulders Beach will bring you face to face with the waddling African penguin colony. In the afternoon, we then visit the Cape of Good Hope, where steep cliffs meet crashing waves to provide spectacular coastal views. And finally, we cap off a busy day enjoying the scenic Chapman’s Peak Drive back to Cape Town.
Day 3
TABLE MOUNTAIN
Today, the adventure starts at the top—literally. We head to Table Mountain and ride the cable car up to the summit. From here, you’ll soak in stunning views of Cape Town, the ocean, and the mountains beyond. Then it’s time to face the cliff as we gear up for the world’s highest commercial abseil. With expert guides leading the way, you’ll descend 112 meters down the rock face, wind in your ears and adrenaline in your veins. Afterward, it’s a short hike back to the summit where you can grab lunch and catch your breath. We’re back at the hotel mid-afternoon and the rest of the day is free—a good opportunity to catch the ferry over to Robben Island or hike to Lion’s Head for sunset.
Day 4
BO-KAAP COOKING CLASS + STELLENBOSCH
This morning we head to Bo-Kaap, the vibrant neighbourhood known for candy-coloured houses and Cape Malay heritage. With a local resident leading the way, you’ll visit a spice shop, learn to cook a traditional meal, and enjoy the fruits of your labour (expect rich curries, sambals, and soft, warm rotis). In the afternoon, we visit the District Six Museum, a moving reminder of apartheid-era Cape Town and the community that once lived there. Then it’s time to swap the city for vineyards as we drive to Stellenbosch in the Cape Winelands. Check in, kick back, and enjoy a slow evening in beautiful wine country.
Day 5
WINE TRAM!
A day of fun awaits as we hop aboard the Franschhoek Wine Tram – easily one of the most scenic sips-and-stops journeys in the world. After breakfast, we make our way to this charming valley, where rolling vineyards and picturesque estates set the scene. And then we’ll spend our day hopping on and off the tram, sampling award-winning wines at a handful of top-notch farms. We’ll take our time, soak in the views, and enjoy a leisurely lunch at one of our favourite estates. Afterwards, we’ll head back to our elegant country lodge where you can enjoy a dip in the pool and maybe treat yourself to one more glass as you watch the sun go down.
Day 6
KRUGER NATIONAL PARK
We say goodbye to the wine part of our itinerary, and adopt a safari state of mind. We head to the airport for our flight to Nelspruit, the gateway to Kruger National Park. On arrival, our driver will be waiting to take you to the lodge, nestled inside South Africa’s most famous wildlife reserves. After settling into your room, there’s time to unwind before lacing up your boots for your first safari experience: a guided bush walk through the African landscape. Your ranger will help you spot tracks, learn about the local plants, and hopefully spot a few animals along the way. Back at the lodge, dinner is served under the stars.
Day 7
THE BIG FIVE & BEYOND
All about the safari today. We head out early in an open 4×4 vehicle, with cameras at the ready. Kruger National Park is massive and full of surprises—from lions lounging in the grass to elephants crossing the road like they own it. Our guide will navigate the park’s different ecosystems, tracking the Big Five and pointing out all kinds of wildlife along the way. After a picnic lunch and some downtime back at the lodge, we’re off again for an afternoon game drive. Think giraffes, zebras, hippos, hundreds of bird species, and maybe a crocodile or two sunbathing by the river. Dinner tonight is well-earned.
Day 8
FLYING NORTH (ZIMBABWE)
Saying goodbye to the bush and transferring to Nelspruit Airport for our flight to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. On arrival, it’s a short ride to our hotel, set near the mighty Zambezi River. The vibe here is different—more tropical, a little steamy, and full of that laid-back Zimbabwean charm. The rest of the afternoon is yours to chill—take a dip in the pool, sip a cocktail overlooking the river, or simply kick back and listen to the sounds of nature. You’ve arrived at one of Africa’s true icons. We are already eager for tomorrow to come so we can explore it closer!
Day 9
VICTORIA FALLS + ZAMBEZI SUNSET CRUISE
After breakfast, we explore one of the world’s 7 Natural Wonders – Victoria Falls! A guided walk along the rainforest trails will bring you close enough to feel the spray from the thundering cascade, with viewpoints to stop you in your tracks along the way. As the sun dips low, we then set out for a peaceful cruise on the Zambezi River. Keep your eyes peeled for hippos and elephants grazing along the banks while enjoying drinks and snacks on deck – it’s the perfect way to round off our tour. In the evening, we gather one last time for a special farewell dinner, raising a toast to new friendships and a memorable journey.
Day 10
AN EMOTIONAL FAREWELL
One last breakfast together and then it’s time to check out. Depending on your flight time, there might be a chance for a last-minute stroll to soak in the African vibe one last time. Take a deep breath and let the memories settle —they’re yours to carry home. You’ve seen Cape Town from above, visited some of the world’s best vineyards, tracked wildlife on safari and felt the mist of one of the world’s greatest waterfalls. It’s hard to leave, but you’ll know exactly where to come back when adventure calls again. When it’s time, our driver will take you to the airport for your onward journey. Until next time!

We know it’s important to you to choose the right tour company for you.

How does it all work?

Are international flights included?
No.
International flights are not included in the price of our tours. This is something you would book yourself separately.
Which airports should I fly into?
Our trip starts in Cape Town so you would fly into Cape Town International Airport (CPT).
It then ends in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, where the closest airport is Victoria Falls International Airport (VFA) so you can arrange your departure flight from there.
Another departure option is also the Harry Mwanga Nkumbula International Airport, Zambia (LVI) in nearby Zambia. If you fly from here you will also need an additional visa for Zambia.
You should organise your flights accordingly.
Ideally you should arrive at the hotel by 6pm on the first day. This is when we have our welcome meeting and afterwards go for dinner (although if you arrive later it’s fine to catch up).
You can leave at any time on the last day. There are no activities scheduled for that day.

Are airport transfers included?
Yes, they are included at both the start and end of every trip.
Notes
- We only do transfers between airports and our selected hotels. No other locations.
- For those tagging on extra days, we will endeavour to include transfers up to 2 days outside of official tour dates.
Can I book a private room?
Yes.
Our standard prices are based on sharing a twin hotel room with one other person of the same gender.
However, if you prefer a private then you can select this option for £800 / $1040 extra.
Just let us know at the time of booking.
(Note – we have limited availability of private rooms, these will be allocated on a first come, first served basis).
Can I book pre and/or post accommodation?
Yes, we can book you in for extra days at either our arrival hotel or departure hotel.
This is up to a maximum of 2 days on either side. If for longer, we suggest you book directly with the hotel.
As you book your trip spot through our website, during the checkout process you will be given the option to “add-on” the pre or post accommodation. You can also do this at a later point through our guest portal (you will have access to this after booking).
I’m traveling solo, will I be the only one?
No.
Our trips are specifically designed for solo travelers so you will fit in perfectly.
Some people may bring a friend but the majority will always be traveling solo.
How do I book?
On this page you will see a “Book Now” button next to each trip departure date. Simply click this to start the checkout process and reserve your spot.
You will need to pay a £200 / $250 deposit upfront and then the remaining balance must be paid by 70 days before the trip.
If your booking is within 70 days, then you must pay the full balance at that point.
What happens after I book? (next steps)
This is what you should expect in the lead up to your trip.
- Book trip (secure your spot with a deposit)
- Book international flights (these can be booked at any point after we’ve confirmed your spot – don’t leave too late as price will go up closer to trip)
- Purchase travel insurance (this will cover for issues leading up to trip as well as during)
> 70 Days Before Trip (cancellation penalties kick-in beyond this point)
- Full balance must be paid
- OWR sends survey: requests flight information, dietary requirements, health conditions, emergency contacts etc…(must be returned within 7 days)
> 10 Days Before Trip
- OWR sends day-by-day schedule, optional activity recommendations & some final info to prepare you for trip

- WhatsApp group created with all trip attendees + Tour Leader
> Trip Start Date
- Welcome meeting is typically scheduled for 6pm on first day. This is where you will meet your Tour Leader and other guests (note – we may change this time depending on overall group arrival times. If it changes we will notify you).
Is the deposit refundable?
No, the deposit is non-refundable.
However, if you can no longer make the trip you can transfer that deposit onto any other future trip.
Do you have payment plans?
Yes.
We can either split your balance into even monthly payments, or we can set it up so you can pay any smaller amounts as and when you like.
You can go ahead and book your spot through our website as normal and then afterwards email us at [email protected] to request we set up your payment plan.
Visas, vaccinations & packing lists?
Two months before your trip you will receive a comprehensive pre-trip pack which tells you everything you need to get prepared for the trip (including info on visas, vaccinations & packing lists).
In general, most of our guests don’t need visas to come to South Africa. However, most will need a visa to enter Zimbabwe (for Victoria Falls) which generally costs $30 to $55 depending on your nationality.
Note – most people fly home from the Zimbabwe side of Victoria Falls, but if you choose to fly home from the Zambia side at LVI airport (also a reasonable option if there are more suitable flights from there) then you will need to ensure you also have a Zambia visa.
Do you cater for special dietary requirements?
Yes.
We cater for vegetarian, vegan, gluten free and other dietary requirements. We will always make sure there are options available to you in the restaurants we visit.
Please be aware though that there will not likely be the same range of options as you have available in your home country.
Will I get to meet other members of the group before the trip?
Yes.
3 days before the trip we will create a WhatsApp group with all the people joining the trip. This is a great opportunity to connect ahead of the trip.
Are the hotels listed on the website the actual hotels you use?
Generally yes, it will be these hotels.
From time to time we may need to change a specific hotel if for example it’s not available on those given dates. But in such situations, we will always replace with another hotel at the same quality and notify you in advance.
What’s the cancellation policy?
The £200/$250 deposit is non-refundable. However, if you need to cancel at any point, you can put this towards any future trip you book with us (in any location).
The rest of the balance is refundable up until 70 days before the trip. From that point we have to start committing funds to local suppliers and so:-
> 30-70 days before trip – 50% refund
> 0–30 days before trip – 0% refund
But, we also recommend that you take out travel insurance to cover you for any unexpected last-minute cancellation.
