Day 1
WELCOME TO PRAGUE!
Vítejte! Welcome to Prague, the “City of a Hundred Spires” and our first stop on this whirlwind European adventure. A friendly face will be waiting at the airport to whisk you to our stylish boutique hotel—zero stress, just smooth arrivals. If you’re in early and keen to explore, we’ll arm you with our top recommendations for making the most of your first taste of this magical city. In the evening, meet your tour leader and fellow travelers for a relaxed welcome chat before heading to a nearby pub specializing in classic Czech dishes. Grab a beer, dig into a plate of svíčková, and toast to the adventure ahead!
Day 2
SECRET NOOKS + CZECH BREWS
Time to dive into Prague’s storybook streets. On today’s walking tour, you’ll explore both must-see sights and some hidden nooks. Stroll through the fairytale Old Town, cross the legendary Charles Bridge, and take in the grandeur of Prague Castle. Everywhere you look, the architecture tells a tale—from Gothic spires to Art Nouveau details – Prague is a completely enchanting city that will leave you wanting more. By evening, it’s time for a feast. We’ve lined up a mouthwatering Beer Sommelier Dinner, paired with some of the country’s best beers. Na zdraví!
Day 3
A TASTE OF VIENNA
This morning, we swap one capital for another as we hop on a scenic train ride to Vienna. After the 4.5 hour journey, we enjoy a food tour which takes us outside Vienna’s main tourist areas, giving you a better feel for everyday life in the city. We’ll explore less-visited neighborhoods while sampling local favorites such as Wiener Schnitzel, goulash, pork belly, apple strudel, and Krapfen alongside Austrian coffee and beer. It’s a more local side of Vienna and a great way to understand the city beyond its grand façades. The evening is free for dinner, drinks, or another stroll through the city, whatever feels right after a day of exploring.
Day 4
PALACES, SPIRES & SYMPHONIES
Today we head into the city for a guided walking tour covering Vienna’s key historical landmarks, including the State Opera House, Hofburg Palace, and St. Stephen’s Cathedral. It’s the perfect introduction to the city’s grand past. As we wander through the city’s elegant boulevards, hidden courtyards, and impressive architecture, you’ll quickly see why Vienna is consistently ranked among the world’s most livable cities. There’s a unique balance here between imperial grandeur and everyday charm that makes exploring on foot a pleasure. Tonight, we’re doing Vienna the right way with a classical music concert in a stunning historic venue. Mozart would approve.
Day 5
BUDAPEST’S BEST VIEWS & RUIN BARS
Another train journey (3 hours)—this time to Budapest, our final destination. After lunch, we’ll explore the city on a guided walking tour on the Pest side of the river, giving you a broad overview of Budapest’s history, architecture, and atmosphere. This area offers a great introduction to the city and helps you get your bearings for the days ahead. The night ends in one of Budapest’s famous ruin bars, set in an old abandoned building and filled with the local “Budapesti”. Grab a drink and soak up the city’s electric atmosphere.
Day 6
THERMAL BATHS + COOKING CLASS + DANUBE RIVER CRUISE
We start the day the Hungarian way with a soak at Széchenyi Thermal Baths, easing into the morning before the city fully wakes up. From there, it’s a hands-on Hungarian cooking class, where you’ll make local favorites like chicken paprikás (yes, paprika will be involved, and no, they don’t go easy on it). We cook, taste, and sit down together to enjoy the final results. Later, we slow things down with a private Danube river cruise, drink in hand, watching Budapest’s landmarks slide past from the water. A full day of soaking, cooking, cruising, and doing Budapest properly.
Day 7
ETYEK WINE TASTING
The morning is yours to do Budapest your way: head up to Buda, wander Castle Hill, take your time with photos, or linger over a very unhurried coffee. In the afternoon, we escape to the Etyek wine region for a laid-back wine tasting at local wineries, sampling crisp whites, fresh sparkling wines, and a few local favorites, before the afternoon slowly turns into our farewell dinner in the countryside. Raise a glass to an incredible week of travel, new friendships, and memories that will last a lifetime.
Day 8
FAREWELL CENTRAL EUROPE!
What an incredible journey across some of the very best spots in Europe!! In just over a week, you’ve wandered Prague’s fairytale streets, soaked up Vienna’s elegant culture, and embraced Budapest’s lively spirit while also venturing out to the Hungarian countryside. You’ve experienced three countries, three distinct cultures, and countless unforgettable moments. And best of all, you’ve shared it all with an amazing group of travelers in their 30s and 40s—connections that will go beyond the trip itself. Until next time, happy travels!

Below are some of the common questions we tend to get asked – we’ve answered both in video format (general across all OWR trips) and written format (specific to this particular trip).
SPECIAL NOTES ABOUT THIS TRIP!
1. Pace and Free Time
This is a fast-paced, experience-rich itinerary. Over the course of the trip, we visit three countries and multiple capital cities, which means we keep things moving and make the most of our time in each place.
Because of this, you won’t be able to see and do everything in every destination. Rather than trying to cover everything, we’ve carefully chosen a mix of activities that give you a well-rounded, meaningful introduction to each place—balancing must-see highlights with experiences that help you understand the culture, history and local way of life.
What this means in practice is that free time is more limited than on slower-paced trips. You’ll have some opportunities to explore independently, but the focus is on sharing a curated set of experiences as a group, rather than long stretches of unstructured time.
2. Alcohol and Social Experiences
Some of the experiences on this trip include alcohol, as it’s a natural part of the local culture in Central Europe.
In particular, there are two activities where alcohol is a central part of the experience:
- A beer sommelier dinner in Prague (a 5-course tasting menu paired with local beers)
- A winery visit in the Etyek region near Budapest, including tastings at 2–3 wineries
In addition, a small amount of beer or wine may be offered during other experiences such as the Vienna food tour, Budapest boat cruise, and cooking class.
That said, this is not a party-focused trip, and alcohol is always part of a broader cultural or social experience rather than the main event. Everything is enjoyed in moderation, and there is no expectation to drink.
If you don’t drink alcohol, you’re absolutely welcome on this trip—many of our travelers don’t. You’ll still be able to fully take part in the experiences, and non-alcoholic options are generally available. We simply want to be upfront that alcohol does feature at various points throughout the itinerary.
3. Christmas Markets
For our Nov/Dec tours we operate our standard itinerary and don’t formally include Christmas Market visits, however, we include sufficient time for you to explore the markets at your own pace in each of the cities.

Am I a good fit for an OWR trip?
We know it’s important to you to choose the right tour company for you.
And equally, for us, it’s super important that we get the right people joining our trips (people who are likely to get the most out of it).

How does it all work?

Are international flights included?
No.
International flights are not included in the price of our tours. This is something you would book yourself separately.
Which airports should I fly into?
Our trip starts in Prague Vaclav Havel Airport (PRG) and ends in Budapest Ferenc Liszt Airport (BUD). You should organise your flights accordingly.
Ideally you should arrive at the hotel by 6pm on the first day. This is when we have our welcome meeting and afterwards go for dinner (although if you arrive later it’s fine to catch up).
You can leave at any time on the last day. There are no activities scheduled for that day.

Are airport transfers included?
Yes, they are included at both the start and end of every trip.
Notes
- We only do transfers between airports and our selected hotels. No other locations.
- For those tagging on extra days, we will endeavour to include transfers up to 2 days outside of official tour dates.
Can I book a private room?
Yes.
Our standard prices are based on sharing a twin hotel room with one other person of the same gender.
However, if you prefer a private then you can select this option for £700 / $900 extra.
Just let us know at the time of booking.
(Note – we have limited availability of private rooms, these will be allocated on a first come, first served basis).
Can I book pre and/or post accommodation?
Yes, we can book you in for extra days at either our arrival hotel or departure hotel.
This is up to a maximum of 2 days on either side. If for longer, we suggest you book directly with the hotel.
As you book your trip spot through our website, during the checkout process you will be given the option to “add-on” the pre or post accommodation. You can also do this at a later point through our guest portal (you will have access to this after booking).
I’m traveling solo, will I be the only one?
No.
Our trips are specifically designed for solo travelers so you will fit in perfectly.
Some people may bring a friend but the majority will always be traveling solo.
How do I book?
On this page you will see a “Book Now” button next to each trip departure date. Simply click this to start the checkout process and reserve your spot.
You will need to pay a £200 / $250 deposit upfront and then the remaining balance must be paid by 70 days before the trip.
If your booking is within 70 days, then you must pay the full balance at that point.
What happens after I book? (next steps)
This is what you should expect in the lead up to your trip.
- Book trip (secure your spot with a deposit)
- Book international flights (these can be booked at any point after we’ve confirmed your spot – don’t leave too late as price will go up closer to trip)
- Purchase travel insurance (this will cover for issues leading up to trip as well as during)
> 70 Days Before Trip (cancellation penalties kick-in beyond this point)
- Full balance must be paid
- OWR sends survey: requests flight information, dietary requirements, health conditions, emergency contacts etc…(must be returned within 7 days)
> 10 Days Before Trip
- OWR sends day-by-day schedule, optional activity recommendations & some final info to prepare you for trip
> 3 Days Before Trip
- WhatsApp group created with all trip attendees + Tour Leader
> Trip Start Date
- Welcome meeting is typically scheduled for 6pm on first day. This is where you will meet your Tour Leader and other guests (note – we may change this time depending on overall group arrival times. If it changes we will notify you).
Is the deposit refundable?
No, the deposit is non-refundable.
However, if you can no longer make the trip you can transfer that deposit onto any other future trip.
Do you have payment plans?
Yes.
We can either split your balance into even monthly payments, or we can set it up so you can pay any smaller amounts as and when you like.
You can go ahead and book your spot through our website as normal and then afterwards email us at [email protected] to request we set up your payment plan.
Visas, vaccinations & packing lists?
Two months before your trip you will receive a comprehensive pre-trip pack which tells you everything you need to get prepared for the trip (including info on visas, vaccinations & packing lists).
In general, most of our guests don’t need visas to come to Central Europe.
Do you cater for special dietary requirements?
Yes.
We cater for vegetarian, vegan, gluten free and other dietary requirements. We will always make sure there are options available to you in the restaurants we visit.
Please be aware though that there will not likely be the same range of options as you have available in your home country.
Will I get to meet other members of the group before the trip?
Yes.
3 days before the trip we will create a WhatsApp group with all the people joining the trip. This is a great opportunity to connect ahead of the trip.
Are the hotels listed on the website the actual hotels you use?
Generally yes, it will be these hotels.
From time to time we may need to change a specific hotel if for example it’s not available on those given dates. But in such situations, we will always replace with another hotel at the same quality and notify you in advance.
What’s the cancellation policy?
The £200/$250 deposit is non-refundable. However, if you need to cancel at any point, you can put this towards any future trip you book with us (in any location).
The rest of the balance is refundable up until 70 days before the trip. From that point we have to start committing funds to local suppliers and so:-
> 30-70 days before trip – 50% refund
> 0–30 days before trip – 0% refund
But, we also recommend that you take out travel insurance to cover you for any unexpected last-minute cancellation.
